How to make a spin wheel

Type in your options, give the wheel a spin, and let it pick for you. No account, no install — and when you are happy with it you can drop the same wheel straight onto your own website.

Four steps

1. Open a wheel

   Start from the main wheel, or pick a ready-made one from the wheel list — team names, numbers, truth or dare, and a few hundred more.

2. Put your own options in

   Type into the list on the right, one option per row. In a hurry? Open Text Mode, paste the whole list at once — one option per line — and the wheel updates as you type. Out of ideas? Create with AI suggests a list for you.

3. Make it yours

   Sort it A to Z, or open Settings to change the wheel style, the colour theme and the sounds.

4. Spin

   Click the wheel. The winner appears in a window when it stops, and every result is kept in the Results tab so you can look back at the whole session.

What each button does

These seven buttons sit above the option list. They are the real controls from the wheel page:

The toolbar, left to right

  ResetPuts the wheel back to the list it started with. Anything you typed in is discarded, so use it when you want a clean slate.

  Import a fileLoads your options from a file instead of typing them. Accepts .xlsx, .xls, .ods, .csv and .txt — handy for a class register or a long name list.

  Sort A → ZPuts the list in alphabetical order. Press it again to flip to Z → A.

  Fast fillFills the wheel with a run of numbers instead of typing them out — give it a first number, a last number and a step, and it builds the list for you.

  Stream / OBSPuts this wheel on your live stream. It creates an overlay link for OBS or Streamlabs and lets you spin from here while your viewers watch the wheel on air. Full guide.

  SettingsThe wheel's layout and colour theme, a custom theme editor, whether confetti fires on a win, and the ticking, win and lose sounds.

  Clear listEmpties the wheel completely. It asks you to confirm first, so a stray click will not wipe your list.

Around the wheel itself

Four more controls sit next to the wheel: the speaker turns the ticking and win sounds on or off, the arrows icon takes the wheel full screen, the name field above the wheel sets its title, and the disk icon saves the wheel so you can come back to it. The magnifier searches the other wheels on the site.

Create a wheel with AI

Not sure what to put on the wheel? The Create with AI button under the wheel, next to Create New Wheel, writes a first draft for you: describe what the wheel is for and it suggests a title and a list of options. Nothing changes on your wheel until you have checked them.

1. Open Create with AI

   Click Create with AI under the wheel. A small window opens with a box for your description.

2. Describe your wheel

   Write a few words about the topic — for example dinner ideas for a picky family — or tap one of the suggestions under the box to use it. You have up to 200 characters; the more specific you are, the better the options.

3. Press Generate

   In a few seconds you get a title and 6 to 12 options, written in the language of the page you are on. Ctrl + Enter works too.

4. Check and edit the suggestions

   Change the title, rewrite or remove any option, or add your own in the box at the bottom. Switch to Text to edit the whole list at once, one option per line. Back takes you to your description if you want to try a different wording.

5. Press Done

   The title and options go onto the wheel, replacing its current list — with several wheels open, onto the one selected in the panel. Spin it straight away, or keep editing it like any other wheel.

Only the description you type in this window is sent to our server to write the suggestions; your existing list stays in your browser. To keep the feature free there is a limit on how many wheels you can generate per hour and per day — if you reach it, try again a little later.

Main Mode, Text Mode and Results

The panel beside the wheel has three tabs, and it is worth knowing what each one is for.

Main Mode is the row-by-row editor. Each option gets its own row, with a colour swatch and a delete button — best when you want to fine-tune one or two entries.

Text Mode shows the whole list as plain text, one option per line. Paste a list in and the wheel rebuilds itself as you type; every new line becomes a slice. There are A → Z and Z → A buttons here too. This is the fastest way to load twenty names at once.

Results records every spin with the time it happened, so after a session of prize draws you still have the full list. You can sort it or clear it, and it starts empty again when you reload the page — nothing is stored anywhere.

Two, three or four wheels at once

Press + Add another wheel under the entry list and a second wheel appears next to the first; you can go up to four (two on a phone). Each wheel has its own list — switch between them with the Wheel 1 / Wheel 2 tabs at the top of the panel, and close any of them with the × on its tab. Click a wheel to spin just that one, even while another is still turning, or press Spin all wheels to spin them together; the winners of the wheels that were spinning appear in one window. Handy for pairing students, drawing a name and a task, or picking a team and a colour in a single spin. Your extra wheels are remembered on this page until you remove them.

Is the wheel actually random?

Yes. The winning segment is chosen first, using your browser's cryptographic random number generator, and the animation is then aimed at it — rather than the other way round. That matters: picking a stopping angle first and reading the winner off the geometry gives some segments slightly more room than others. Every option on the wheel has the same chance, whether there are two of them or two hundred.
